A baby is born without signs of life and his parents despair, but when his little brother holds him in his arms and hugs him, a cry echoes throughout the hospital and everyone falls to their knees.
David was excited about the arrival of his new little brother. The idea of having someone to play with filled his heart with joy. He could already imagine what it would be like to share his toys and show him the secret hiding places that only he knew.
While helping his mother tidy the baby’s room, David asked:
—Mom, do you think he likes dinosaurs?
Rachel, who was nine months pregnant, was finishing folding the clothes for the baby on the way. She smiled and replied:
—I’m sure he’s going to love everything you teach him, David. You’re going to be the best brother in the world.
Then the boy jumped for joy and began planning the games they would play, the toys they would share, and even the funny names he would give the toy dinosaurs.
Suddenly, Rachel placed her hand on her belly and felt something move. The baby was kicking. A smile spread across her face, and she settled back on the sofa next to the newly assembled crib.
—David, come here. Do you want to feel your little brother kick?
The boy wasted no time and ran to his mother. He knelt beside her, placed his hands on her large belly, and pressed his ear to it, trying to hear something. However, after a few seconds of silence, he frowned and said:
—Hmm… I don’t hear anything. Maybe he’s asleep.
Suddenly, David felt something unexpected against his hand. His eyes widened in surprise, and he looked at his mother with a broad smile.
—He kicked! I felt it! He seems excited to get out.
Ralph, the father of the family, hurried into the room, adjusting his briefcase as he said:
—I’m late again. I just came to say a quick goodbye.
Rachel then got up from the armchair to straighten her husband’s crooked tie, and David looked at his father with eyes full of expectation.
—Is it going to be a long time before my little brother is born?
The man chuckled, noticing his son’s anxiety. He ruffled his hair affectionately and replied:
—Relax, champ. She’s almost here. Your mom is in the final stages of her pregnancy; she’s just a few days away from completing nine months. She’ll be here with us very soon.
Suddenly, Rachel put her hand to her stomach in surprise. She felt a kick stronger than usual and let out a groan of pain.
“Oh! That was intense,” she said, trying to hide her annoyance.
